Our 2024 CTBG Summer Retreat was held on July 20th at the Menchaca Library. It was a success with 13 guild members there...we had so much fun. Rita M. taught us about the history of Indigo dye, and how it is made. Rebecca S. facilitated the weaving of Tampico Finch Wing Brooms and played Basket Bingo with us. Then we ate a shared potluck lunch. After lunch, Elizabeth E. facilitated the weaving of a mini Random Weave basket. We all went home with fond memories of our day, spent weaving and getting to know our fellow guild members better.
Seven members took part in our Skills Share Workshop at the Carver Austin Public Library.
So much fun was had learning how to wrap rocks & add embellishments (facilitated by Linda S. & Diane R.), how to make a UFO or Unfinished Basket Carrier (facilitated by Elizabeth L.) and how to weave a Broken Twill Pattern out of colored paper (facilitated by Rebecca S.)
Door prizes were donated & given out, for lunch we had fantastic food and many tips & laughter was shared by all attendees. Thank you to all the facilitators, the co-chairs, and guild members who donated door prizes!

CTBG Summer Retreat 2021
Nine members took part in our fun one-day retreat in Georgetown. We had a great time learning how to weave a plaited basket with painted-paper strips, create Carolina Snowflakes, and make a lovely awl cover using cane and waxed linen. Rebecca stayed busy the entire day, facilitating all 3 projects – without using patterns. All that mixed in with great conversation, food, laughter, and door prizes made for a great day.
